Question: What is the ruling regarding visiting the [historical] sites related to the Prophetic biography, such as the cave of Hiraa, the mountain of Uhud and Masjid Qiblatayn?

Response: Visiting them [in order] to seek blessing from them, or believing that [visiting them] is
legislated is [in fact] an innovation – and not permissible.

As for visiting them just to have a look – then there is no harm [in that].

If he is visiting them just to have a look – then there is no harm [in that].

However, if he was visiting them to seek blessing from them or believing that visiting them is legislated – and that there is reward [in doing so], then this is an innovation and [therefore] not permissible.
