Shaykh Sulaymaan ar-Ruhaylee said:
The Ikhwaan al-Muslimoon (The Muslim Brotherhood) in the latter period saw their lack of importance to tawheed made many people turn away from them, so the [Ikhwaan] adopted a new image – an upgrade, and it is the Sururiyyah.
It is the same Ikhwaan, but [a] polished [one].
With what [have they done this]? [They have done this] with two things:
Showing an interest in knowledge, and showing an interest in tawheed.
However, if you were to contemplate on their state, you will find two things in their interest in knowledge and tawheed:
The first thing that this interest is only a means of drawing [others] to [their] ideology; a bait [if you like]!
So I will give you an example.
Safar al-Hawali, who is one of the senior leaders of the Sururis, he used to explain the [text of] al-‘Aqeedah at-Tahaawiyyah.
So after [the] ‘Asr [prayer] he would explain [the text of] al-‘Aqeedah at-Tahaawiyyah, [and] after [the] Maghrib [prayer] [he would give] a lesson on ideology!!
In it he would state what the Sururis – who are from the Ikhwaan – are upon.
Salman al-‘Owdah, who is one of the senior men of the Sururis, he used to explain [the text of] Buloogh al-Maraam. At first, the explanation of one hadeeth would take up an entire cassette. Then, after a short period of time, on one side, he began to explain four or five ahaadeeth, and on the [other] side he spoke about ideology and methodology upon the way of the Sururis.
So, by way of induction and scrutiny, we find that these Sururis display an interest in knowledge and lessons of knowledge, and an interest in tawheed as bait for [propagating their] ideology and methodology.
And [you will] therefore [note] Salman al-‘Owdah says: “Tawheed can be learnt in ten minutes.”
[So he is saying] the tawheed that the Prophet ﷺ spent his life calling to – from the time he was sent until he died can be learnt in ten minutes!!
So this is the first thing that you will notice in the interest of the Sururi Ikhwaanis, because the Sururis are the Ikhwaanis with knowledge and tawheed.
The second thing that you will notice is that their interest is general, [and] not detailed.
So if they talk about tawheed, they do not talk about tawheed in detail.
And in explaining the issue of the reality of shirk and the like, they [only] speak in general [and not in detail], and this is something which is clear and apparent.
Therefore, the danger of the Ikhwaan al-Muslimoon is that they belittle the call to tawheed, the call of the Prophets and Messengers, and they have serious violations in the issue of tawheed, and they have no efforts in the call to tawheed, and this is what the scholars such as Shaykh Ibn Baaz (rahima-hullaah) have warned against.
