‘Abdur-Rahmaan Aal ‘Umaysaan reports: Our Shaykh, ‘Abdul-Muhsin ibn Hamad al-‘Abbaad al-Badar was asked regarding the killing of the Khaarijee Usaamah ibn Laadin, on Monday 28 Jumaada al-Awwal 1432 (corresponding to 2 May, 2011) after the ‘Ishaa. prayer (unrecorded):
What is the balanced opinion regarding the killing of Usaamah ibn Laadin; Since there are those who rejoiced at his killing, whilst there are those who say he was a mujaahid – and [thereby] declared him to have attained martyrdom?
Our Shaykh responded: How was he a mujaahid?! Yes he was a mujaahid in the path of Shaytaan. Usaamah ibn Laadin brought about great evil [and harm] to the Muslims, and no doubt with his passing [away] – there is ease for them; The people will be at ease with his passing [away].
