Shaykh Sulaymaan ar-Ruhaylee said:
Indeed, it is a sign of a lack of knowledge and a lack of intelligence to take pictures [and videos] of your children in their best attire and send (share) them to people.
Perhaps he took pictures of his son in a form of either strength, or physical ‘perfection’ – and [then] shared them with people.
This exposes his son to all kinds of evil. [Only] yesterday evening, [we] mentioned that the evil eye is true (real).
And likewise, some people take pictures of their children in something hideous, either in appearance or action, then send them to people to laugh at them.
[Doing] this is a betrayal of trust.
He is helpless infront of you.
Would you be happy for a picture to be taken of you in this way, and it be sent to the people and they laugh at you?
And some of them want to earn money from this; a million views or something, and give it at the expense of this vulnerable and helpless [child]. And he remains a laughingstock that people laugh at.
Perhaps he grows up, then this picture is shown to him, [and he is] overcome by sadness and depression.
So my advice to every Muslim man and woman is to occupy themselves with what concerns them and to take care of what raises their status in this world and the Hereafter and to stay away from trivial (meritless) matters.
