[It was the habit of] Muhammad ibn Seereen [that he] would set aside seven parts of the Qur.aan [to read], and if he missed any during the night, he would [be sure to] read it during the day.

Ibn Taymiyyah in prison
Ibn Taymiyyah completed the recitation of the Qur.aan 80 times whilst in al-Qal’ah prison, in Damascus
If anyone did speak to him, he would respond to them
al-Awzaa’ee would not speak to anyone after the fajr prayer until [after] he had engaged himself in the remembrance of Allaah; And if anyone did speak to him, he would respond to them.
Relentless weeping
I was unable to listen to the recitation of ath-Thowree due to his relentless weeping.

A dead heart
Never have those who enjoy, enjoyed; And never have their hearts sought to fly with anything like the beautiful recitation of the Qur.aan. And any heart which does not love the beautiful recitation of the Qur.aan is a dead heart.
How would he preoccupy himself?
It was said to the sister of Maalik ibn Deenaar: How would Maalik preoccupy himself at home? She replied: The Qur.aan and [its] recitation.
