The General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars, on the website of the General Presidency for Scholarly Research and Ifta, has explicitly renewed the fatwa of the Standing Committee for Issuing Fatwas banning the controversial mobile game.

Authorities in Riyadh have decided to withdraw Pokémon games from the market after the country’s highest religious authority, Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azeez Aal ash-Shaykh, last week called for a ban on the popular children’s game.

In a fatwa, the Permanent Committee for Islaamic Research and Fataawa, headed by Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azeez Aal ash-Shaykh, the grand mufti, urged “all Muslims to beware of this game and prevent their children from playing it.”
