Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen advised:
So we should take advantage of our life – in obedience to Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala, because life is short, and time is passing [us by]. Time is [but] moments, not days, nor hours. Rather it is moments that pass by quickly.
So look at where we are today, the month of Ramadhaan. [It is] as if it [only] came [upon us] yesterday. This is how a person’s life is; when his time is up, it is as if he was born today. So we must take advantage of the opportunity [of life] as long as we are in a period of respite [before death reaches us], and that we take advantage of the [remaining] hours of [our] life, and occupy them with obedience to Allaah, avoiding His disobedience. And know, that the more you obey Allaah, the more your eemaan will increase, and [subsequently] the more your desire for good will increase [in shaa.-Allaah].
And the more your eemaan and desire for good increases, the closer you will be to Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala, because the most complete of the people in eemaan, are those who are the closest to Allaah, and the most consciously fearful of the people to Allaah, are the most honourable to Allaah.
I ask Allaah Ta’aala to aid us all to obey Him, and to guide us to seize the opportunities of our lives so we can draw closer to our Lord ‘Azza wa Jall.
