Yoonus as-Sadafee said:
I have not seen [anyone] more sensible than ash-Shaafi’ee.
One day, I debated him on a [particular religious] issue, and [afterwards] we parted.
When he [later] found me, he took a hold of my hand and said:
O Abaa Moosaa, is it not right for us to remain brothers [in Islaam] – even if we do not agree on a [particular religious] issue?
