From the indicators of the tenderness of a believer’s heart is that he feels pain at the mishap of his believing brother when he slips up, so much so that it is as if he himself is the one who has slipped up; and he [certainly] does not maliciously rejoice [at his brother’s lapse].

A true brother
So your brother is the one who [sincerely] advises you, reminds you, and warns you [against pursuing the path to desctruction].
People are of three types
Either he accepts the truth and adheres to it – then he is a wise person…
Beware of being amazed with yourself!
And many of the intellectuals become atheists because of their intellect, and [as a result he] looks upon others as despicable, and sees others as nothing worthy of note…
In the absence of your brother
In the absence of your brother, make mention of him with what you [yourself] would like to be remembered with, and do not make mention of him with what you [yourself] would not like to be mentioned of yourself.
Even if his knowledge is a lot
The jurist (الفقيه) is one who fears Allaah, even if his knowledge is little.
Presuming good of Allaah and reliance upon Him
My father (rahima-hullaah) was on the roof of the masjid repairing one of the drain pipes, when one of the passers by asked him…
Beware of being taken by appearances!!
Quite possibly, this brother and his like could be better than me and you in front of Allaah.
The burden borne by teachers
We have not become neglectful of that which is required of us.
For every thing there is a sign
For every thing there is a sign, and the sign of failure is to abandon crying [out of the fear of Allaah].
