The importance of taking notes
We used to do the rounds visiting the ‘Ulamaa with az-Zuhree, and with him he had tablets and papers which he used to write upon all he heard [from the ‘Ulamaa].

There is nothing more harmful to the branches of knowledge and its people than those who enter themselves into it and they are not from its people.
A dedicated fanatic
I do not say this as a dedicated fanatic since he (al-Haafidth Abi ‘Ali an-Neesaabooree رحمه الله) was my teacher, but I simply never saw anything comparable to him.
