Spent his time wisely
‘The Shaykh was very careful in how he spent his time.
The Shaykh advises President Gaddaffi of Libya
From amongst his noble actions was the time he called the President of Libya, Mu’ammar Gaddaffi, and informed him of the prohibition of removing the word “Qul” from the Soorahs [of the Qur.aan], and that pronouncing it was obligatory.
The Shaykh’s hospitality
I heard your voice and brought this food for you, assuming you had not eaten tonight.
Not concerned about his salary
By Allaah! He has never asked me about it, rather he would ask about the salaries of the other people, stipulating that it must not be late.
The Shaykh didn’t want to seek revenge
At that moment, the Shaykh asked his assistant to stop taking notes, as he feared it may be said that the Shaykh sought revenge for himself.
“The is so-and-so who said such-and-such about you”
“If it was said to me that there is someone on the face of this earth who is from the pious predecessors, certainly I would have said it is this man,”’
The humble Shaykh
By Allaah, I used to pray that Allaah does not cause me to die until I see [meet] you.
A blessing from Allaah
At this, the Shaykh became emotionally affected [by such good news] and cried.
You must be scared of her
In that case, you must be scared of her, for certainly if you deny this, then you would remain with us for supper.
