Disobedience towards parents
[O] Noble Shaykh Saalih, do you have any word[s] of guidance to the one who is disobedient to his parents, especially the mother.
Hold firm to the Sunnah wherever you may be
Is it permissible for the one who lives in Europe to shorten the beard, if [maintaining] the beard causes him problems in finding work?
Extending the greeting by a nod of the head
He also says, some people – [and] may Allaah guide them – when they pass by others who are seated or passing them, they nod their head towards them – intending [by doing so] to extend the greeting [of as-salaam ‘alaykum]; [so] should we respond to them [when they do this]?
Prohibited content on mobile phones
There is a [widespread] trend among the youth with mobile phones; they fill them with objectionable content – such as songs and music, as well as prohibited pictures.
So what is your advice to the likes of these [youth], and may Allaah bless you?
Boycotting between brothers
After the death of my father, there ensued a financial disagreement between me and my brother; this disagreement has [now] continued [between us] for [many] years. So, I sought refuge [in Allaah] from Shaytaan the accursed, and began to telephone him and show kindness to him, but he does not reciprocate. I [also] began to visit him with my children to initiate an air of politeness [between us], but he does not let us in[to his house]. So what should my position [now] be [towards my brother], as I feel pain [at our deteriorating state of affairs] O noble Shaykh, since my father and mother have [both] passed away?
Harbouring harshness and cruelty towards others
If a person has harshness and cruelty in his heart [towards others], then what can soften his heart from this harshness and cruelty?
‘Umrah Badal on behalf of the deceased
Regarding the ‘umrah, can it be performed on behalf of another, since my father has died without performing the ‘umrah – and I live [too] far away [to do so on his behalf myself]?
Displays of love towards my parents
Is it permissible to kiss the [fore]head of a parent if he only prays sometimes or not at all?
Honouring parents whilst living away from them
He lives in a separate house [away] from his parents, so is this inconsistent with fulfilling his complete duty towards them?
