The sect of the Aaghaakhaaniyyah is an offshoot of the Ismaa’eeliyyah, and its founder was Hasan ‘Alee Shaah, who is known as “Aaghaa Khaan” (Aga Khan) as are those who follow him in successive leadership.
This sect started in Iran during the first third of the 19th century.
Their ‘aqeedah revolves around their belief that their leader “Aaghaa Khaan” is to be worshiped, and as a result, they pay a fifth (20%) of their earnings to him. The people are aware that the Aaghaa Khaan was a shameless drunkard and gambler, and engrossed in corruption, however, despite their knowing this, they say everything he does is regarded as something to Allaah.
